Wooops...that's American Idol Well I have another to show you. This one is similar to a previous that I showed all of you that I made for a collegue. The difference, this one is MINE!!!!!! I hate the rosette...WAY TO BIG..but it is what I had on hand. The Specs. 0 Parlor 12 Fret 24.9 scale Macassar Ebony Back and Sides Port Orford Cedar Top. I made this one to travel with. We will see how it sounds...I like the warmth of cedar tops. I thought it might help a bit on a small body guitar. |

Forgot the best part. As I said, it is a travel guitar. Here is the case. I just take it apart and roll it on the plane No baggage monkeys to ruin it. Larry, you are the only one I know that can ALWAYS get a guitar on the plane. The rest of us are not commercial pilots |

I agree about the size of the rosette. I think if you opened up the soundhole to within 1/8" of the rosette, it wouldn't look so out of place. You can cut a piece of black construction paper to see what it would look like, before cutting the top <g> Less is more... Otherwise, very nice! |

I ordered the case from a company that makes cases for electronic equipment. I just cut out the foam and lined it with some velour cloth |

wow!! That is a thing of beauty! I love the "eyes" that the ebony makes. Great setup for a travel guitar. So how much time and effort does it take to get thing up and running? Any thoughts on long term effects of not having the tension of the strings on it in its disassembled state? Fabulous work. Macassar is quickly becoming my favorite wood. I've never played it or built with it, but aesthetically, its got a hold on me... |

Andy...Good concept, great work! BTW, there's nothing wrong with a simple black/white/black purfling sandwich as a rosette. Looks elegant, and it's easy to roll your own! |

Evan I plan on keeping it set up all the time. Only take it apart for travel. Set up should only take about 5-10 minutes. Bolt the neck on...both tenons six bolts...2 in neck, 4 on the fretboard extension. Then string it up. I don't plan on removing the strings completely. Loosen them up, velco/ wind them up. Leave attached at the headstock. Just remove the bridge pins. Carlton, I totally agree on the rosette. Simpler would have been MUCH better |

Bob The finish is Cat Urethane....Tony did it for me... He is just awesome Serge Cannot afford to quit my day job. At least not while living in La Jolla, CA WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. Also, I need the day job to afford all of this wood.. Chas Did not get the idea from John Grevens TG, since I don't even know what that is...I will have to look it up. Thanks for the kind words Andy |

Andy, that's one really sweet guitar. I like the case too. Sort of reminds me of Maxwell Smart and his "having gadgets in things that shouldn't have gadgets in them" kind of thing. (Phone in shoe, etc). I really like it a lot! |
